THESE BANDS RELY ON A LARGE NUMBER OF VOLUNTEERS TO FUNDRAISE, SERVE AS CHAPERONS, BUILD PROPS, AND MOVE A MYRIAD OF THINGS.

OUR HIGH SCHOOL BAND PROGRAMS ARE SO FORTUNATE TO HAVE A VERY LONG HISTORY OF ROBUST VOLUNTEERISM, AND WE APPRECIATE ALL THE MANY PARENTS AND FRIENDS WHO HAVE DONATED THEIR TIME AND TALENTS TO HELP US.

MARCHING BANDS HAVE A VAST NUMBER OF INSTRUMENTS AND EQUIPMENT THAT HAVE TO BE TRANSPORTED TO EVENT LOCATIONS, REQUIRING BOX TRUCKS AND SEMI-TRAILERS . TO ACCOMPLISH THESE MOVES, THE BANDS RELY HEAVILY ON VOLUNTEERS TO DRIVE THOSE VEHICLES.

PROBABLY THE MOST UNIQUE VOLUNTEER NEED WE HAVE IS FOR SEMI-TRAILER DRIVERS WHO ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE A CDL, A DRIVER'S LICENSE THAT INVOLVES A LOT OF EXTENSIVE TRAINING, FINDING A CDL-A LICENSED DRIVER WHO IS WILLING AND AVAILABLE TO DEDICATE HUNDREDS OF HOURS TO A HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING BAND'S PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE, IS DAUNTING, TO SAY THE LEAST.

WITH THE UNIQUE NATURE OF A CDL DRIVER, WE THANK THE BOARD FOR ALLOWING US TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE INCREDIBLE SERVICE OF MR. BOBBY AMADOR.

MR. AMADOR BEGAN HIS VOLUNTEER SERVICE WITH THE RICHLAND HIGH SCHOOL BAND PROGRAM ALL THE WAY BACK IN 2007, WHEN HIS SON, CHANDLER WAS A FRESHMAN. BY THE TIME HIS OTHER SON, DRAKE, WHO WAS HERE, WAS A FRESHMAN IN 2011, MR. AMADOR WAS COORDINATING THE TRANSPORTATION VOLUNTEERS FOR THE NEWLY ACQUIRED SEMI-TRAILER WE HAVE ALL AFFECTIONATELY KNOWN AS BIG BLUE.

WITH ENCOURAGEMENT FROM HIS BROTHER, MR. AMADOR GOT HIS CDL-A LICENSE IN 2013 AND HE BEGAN DRIVING BIG BLUE HIMSELF.

SINCE THAT TIME, MR. AMADOR HAS DRIVEN COUNT TO COUNTLESS GAMES AND COMPETITIONS, INCLUDING TREKS TO HOUSTON, SAN ANTONIO, SAINT LOUIS, INDIANAPOLIS AND NEW MEXICO.

LONG AFTER HE AND HIS WIFE ALLISON, WHO IS HERE, HAVE HAD THEIR SONS IN A BISD SCHOOL.

HE HAS ALSO VOLUNTEERED HIS SERVICES TO THE HALTOM HIGH SCHOOL BAND, AS WELL AS THE BIRDVILLE HIGH SCHOOL BAND.

WHEN HE'S NOT COMMITTED TO THE RICHLAND HIGH SCHOOL BAND EVENT, WE ESTIMATE MR. AMADOR HAS AT LEAST 10,000 SERVICE HOURS, AT LEAST INVOLVING EVERY ASPECT OF ORGANIZING, LOADING, UNLOADING, AND DRIVING THESE SCHOOLS' VALUABLE EQUIPMENT ALL OVER THE PLACE.

IN ADDITION TO DRIVING, MR. AMADOR'S HELP WITH MAINTENANCE AND ATTENTION TO THE TRAILERS HAS TRULY SAVED THE DISTRICT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS.

I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO RECOGNIZE OUR OTHER BOND OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE MEMBERS WHO ARE HERE TONIGHT, AARON MORGAN, AARON POWELL AND CURTIS BERGTHOLD.

THIS ONE'S EXCITING BECAUSE IT WILL BEGIN RIGHT AWAY.

IT'S GOING TO BEGIN OVER SPRING BREAK, AND THEN IT WILL BE READY FOR THE FALL.

IT WILL BE OPEN FOR STUDENTS TO BE EATING OUTSIDE IN THE FALL.

WE'RE ADDING ONTO THE BUILDING FOR THE DANCE ROOMS AND THINGS.

AND THEN THAT FIRST PICTURE ON THE LEFT IS THE COURTYARD.

THAT'S GETTING A FULL OVERHAUL.

THE PICTURE ON THE FAR RIGHT IS THE LUNCHROOM.

AND THE WAY THAT THIS IS GOING TO WORK IS ONCE THE GMP IS APPROVED BY THE BOARD, AS LONG AS YOU APPROVE IT, WE WILL BEGIN WORK IN APRIL, AND THEN THE WORK WILL BE COORDINATED BETWEEN WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE WHEN KIDS ARE GONE AND WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE WHEN KIDS ARE THERE.
