ANOTHER WAY BEING A STUDENT AT WATAUGA HELPED ME TO GROW, IS THE TEACHERS ARE VERY SUPPORTIVE AND WILLING TO HELP YOU FIX YOUR GRADES IF YOU ASK, AND ARE ACTUALLY WILLING TO PUT IN THE EFFORT TO IMPROVE YOUR WORK AND YOUR GRADES.

STUDENTS AT WATAUGA FEEL LIKE THEY MATTER AS INDIVIDUALS.

I BELIEVE THE BOARD AND CABINET CONTRIBUTE TO THIS OVERALL FEELING AS YOU MAKE DECISIONS THAT FULFILL OUR MISSION STATEMENT, TO ENSURE THAT ALL STUDENTS POSITION THEMSELVES TO EXCEL WITH INTEGRITY IN AN EVER CHANGING GLOBAL SOCIETY THROUGH INNOVATIVE AND RESPONSIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS.

WE INVESTED APPROXIMATELY A 2% INCREASE THERE, AND THAT'S REALLY THE ONLY INCREASE THAT YOU WOULD RECEIVE IN TERMS OF YOUR CONTRIBUTION WOULD BE TO THAT ADDITIONAL EXPOSURE THAT'S COMING.

THERE ARE FIVE CATEGORIES NOW, AND YOU GUYS, WE'VE BEEN OVER THIS BEFORE, BUT I'LL JUST MENTION THOSE.

THERE'S THE NON SPENDABLE, WHICH IS YOUR INVENTORY, YOU'RE RESTRICTED, WHICH IS THINGS LIKE BOND FUNDS COMMITTED WHICH IS COMMITTED BY THE BOARD.

WE HAVE THE ASSIGNED AND THE UNASSIGNED FUND BALANCE.

THROUGH OUR SCHOOLS FIRST, WE TRY TO USE THIS GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTING STANDARDS BOARD POLICY TO HELP KEEP US COMPLIANT WITH SCHOOLS FIRST.

I KNOW WE HAVE SOME OTHER FUNDS THAT WE'RE GOING TO BE LOOKING AT TO TRY TO MANAGE THAT FUND BALANCE PERCENTAGE OF EXPENDITURE.

WE'LL BE BRINGING THIS BACK NEXT MONTH WITH A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD TO CONSIDER.

THE REQUIREMENT, HOWEVER, IS THAT THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES MUST APPROVE THE OPTIONAL FLEXIBLE SCHOOL DAY PROGRAM WAIVER FOR THE DISTRICT IN ORDER FOR US TO USE THIS AVENUE TO PREVENT A STUDENT FROM BEING CONSIDERED A DROP OUT, OR FOR INSTANCES WHERE THERE IS A NEED TO ALTER THE REQUIRED TIME FOR DAILY ATTENDANCE PURPOSES.

UNDER THIS PROGRAM, THE DISTRICT MUST HAVE A PROCESS WHERE THIS OPTION IS MANAGED AND GOVERNED BY CAMPUS ADMINISTRATION.

STUDENTS DO NOT GET TO SELECT THIS OPTION.

THAT HAS SOME NEW ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS THAT REQUIRES US TO PUT SOME COMMUNICATIONS INFRASTRUCTURE IN EACH CLASSROOM THAT WILL ALLOW A STAFF MEMBER, A STUDENT, ANYBODY IN THAT ROOM TO INITIATE AN ALERT TO THE FRONT OFFICE, ALERTING THEM OF AN EMERGENCY.

NOW, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT SPECIFICALLY STIPULATED IN THIS CODE IS IT HAS TO BE STANDALONE HARDWARE FROM THE PHONE.

IT CANNOT BE PART OF THE PHONE, IT HAS TO BE SOMETHING SEPARATE THAT WILL INITIATE AN ALERT.
