THANKS TO YOUR CONTINUED DEDICATION, OUR DISTRICT HAS SEEN A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN OUR ATTENDANCE THIS YEAR, ALMOST A HALF A PERCENTAGE POINT. WE ARE THRILLED TO SHARE THIS ACHIEVEMENT WITH YOU, AND TO SHOW OUR GRATITUDE FOR ALL THAT YOU ALL DO.

IN AN EFFORT TO CELEBRATE, ENCOURAGE, INCREASE ATTENDANCE AT EACH CAMPUS WE'VE BEEN PASSING AROUND SPIRIT STICKS TO SCHOOLS THAT HAVE SEEN AN INCREASE IN ATTENDANCE.

EACH SPIRIT STICK IS DECORATED TO REFLECT EACH CELEBRATED CAMPUS'S UNIQUE COLORS AND MASCOTS.

THIS YEAR, THROUGH THE GENEROSITY OF CARING GROUPS, BUSINESSES, MUNICIPALITIES, CHURCHES, FAMILIES, INDIVIDUALS, BIRDVILLE ISD BOARD OF TRUSTEES, STAFF MEMBERS AND STUDENT GROUPS, A RECORD BREAKING 647 FAMILIES AND 1,581 CHILDREN WERE ADOPTED.

THIS IS AN INCREASE OF 63% FROM LAST YEAR. OF THESE TOTALS WITHIN BIRDVILLE ISD ALONE, 402 FAMILIES, 01,199 CHILDREN AND 732 ADULTS WERE SERVED, AN INCREASE OF 28% FROM LAST YEAR.

THANKS TO THE DEDICATION OF THESE PROVIDERS, FAMILIES RECEIVED A HOLIDAY MEAT, A BOX OF NONPERISHABLE FOOD, A KROGER GIFT CARD, AND GIFTS FOR THE CHILDREN, ENSURING A BRIGHTER HOLIDAY SEASON FOR ALL.

IT IS WITH HEARTFELT GRATITUDE THAT WE CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS PROVIDERS FOR THEIR EXCEPTIONAL PARTNERSHIP AND STEADFAST SUPPORT OF BIRDVILLE ISD CAMPUSES [APPLAUSE].

OUR COMMITTEE MET ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 14TH FOR AN UPDATE ON THE 2022 BOND PROJECTS, WHICH WILL BE COMING TO AN END REALLY SOON.

IT FEELS LIKE WE JUST STARTED, BUT THEY'RE ROLLING RIGHT ALONG.

WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT THAT. FIRST ITEM IS THE GRIGGS HIGH SCHOOL AND THE KUNKEL LEARNING CENTER.

IT'S MOVING SLOWLY, BUT IT'S IT'S COMING TOGETHER.

WORK'S BEEN HELD UP ON OUTSIDE PAINTING DUE TO THE LOW TEMPERATURES, BUT COLOR WAS ADDED TO THE ROOF AND THE INSIDE PUNCH LIST ITEMS AND HVAC WORK ARE CONTINUING, AND WE'RE HOPING THE BUILDING WILL BE WALKABLE BY SPRING BREAK AND FULLY COMPLETED BY THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR.

IT'S UNFORTUNATE THAT SOME OF THE CONTRACTOR DELAYS CAUSED TIMELINE ISSUES.

BUT THEY'VE MOVED. EXCUSE ME, THE OPENING UNTIL NEXT SCHOOL YEAR, BUT WE'RE HAPPY THAT THAT WILL BE HAPPENING.

THE KIDS WILL BE MOVED IN, AND HOPEFULLY THERE WILL BE NO PUNCH LIST ITEMS WHEN THEY'RE IN THERE AND AND WORKING AND READY, READY FOR SCHOOL IN AUGUST. OUR NEXT ITEM IS THE BIRDVILLE COURTYARD PROJECT.

THAT IS 99% COMPLETE. ONLY THE SURROUNDING FENCING IS STILL TO BE INSTALLED, AND THE STUDENTS ARE USING THAT NEW OPEN SPACE AND THE COVERED EATING AREAS DAILY, WHICH I'M SURE MAKES THAT CAFETERIA MUCH MORE MANAGEABLE DURING THE THE LUNCH HOURS.

AND I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO SEE IT IN PERSON THE OTHER DAY. AND IT REALLY IS BEAUTIFUL.

IT'S IT'S LIKE A HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUS. IT'S FANTASTIC.

AND I THINK MARK NOTED THAT THE GRASS IS EVEN GREEN DURING THE WINTER.

SO WE'RE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THAT. THE THIRD ONE IS MULLENDORE.

CONSTRUCTION AT MULLENDORE IS ROLLING ALONG AND STAYING ON SCHEDULE AS IT HAS BEEN THE WHOLE TIME, WHICH IS GREAT. KNOCK ON WOOD. LET'S KEEP IT THAT WAY.

I DID GET TO DRIVE DOWN GLENVIEW THE OTHER DAY AND SEE IT.

SO WE'VE BEEN DOING IT FOR A WHILE, AND THEN WE STARTED, YOU KNOW, WITH DIFFERENT PIECES OF IT, BECAUSE THE KIDS JUST REALLY ENJOYED IT, AND THEY WERE LEARNING SO MUCH.

AND THE VOCABULARY THAT WE WERE TALKING ABOUT WAS JUST UNIVERSAL FROM FIFTH GRADE TO KINDERGARTEN AND THE CONVERSATIONS THAT THEY COULD HAVE TOGETHER.

AND THEN THREE YEARS AGO, WHEN WE DIDN'T REALLY NEED A TECHNOLOGY LAB, WE DIDN'T NEED A COMPUTER LAB ANYMORE, ALL OF OUR KIDS HAD A DEVICE THEN, AND THEY WERE ALL KEYBOARDING IN THE CLASSROOM.

WE CHANGED OUR COMPUTER LAB OVER TO GAINING ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE.

AND THAT'S WHERE OUR STEM COMPONENT CAME IN. SO WE HAVE A THREE WE THROUGH GRANTS.

WE HAVE A 3D PRINTER. WE ALREADY HAVE SO MANY STEM PIECES THAT ARE ALREADY A PART OF THE CHILDREN'S EVERYDAY LEARNING.

HOW MUCH EXTRA TRAINING WILL THESE TEACHERS BE REQUIRED TO? WELL, WE WE WOULD WANT TO TRAIN IN PROBLEM BASED THE PBL AND THEN IN ANY OF OUR CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT WE WOULD ANY OF THE CURRICULUM UNITS WE WOULD TRAIN IN THAT.

AND THEN OF COURSE FOR IT TO BE AN AVID SCHOOL, WE WOULD HAVE AVID TRAINING FOR THEM.

AND SO WHAT THE UPDATE WAS REALLY ASKING DISTRICTS TO MAKE SURE THAT WE HAVE AN APPROVED TRANSITION PLAN, A WELL-DEVELOPED TRANSITION PLAN THAT COULD BE REQUESTED BY THE COMMISSIONER OF EDUCATION, SUBJECT TO REVIEW AND THEREFORE FUNDING BEING TIED TO THIS TRANSITION PLAN.

SO TODAY I'M PRESENTING TO YOU AN OVERVIEW OF THE PLAN.

THESE ARE THE MAIN CATEGORIES THAT THE STATE HAS REQUESTED THAT WE INCLUDE IN OUR PLAN.

SO TO GIVE YOU A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF COMMUNICATION WITH STAKEHOLDERS, WE ACTUALLY BEGAN THIS PROCESS WITH THE SCHOOL BOARD BACK IN OCTOBER, SHARING WITH YOU THE VISION AND GOALS FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF NEW MATH MATERIALS AND UPDATE ON HOUSE BILL 1605 AND HOW THAT CREATED A DIFFERENT PROCESS FOR US TO ADOPT NEW MATERIALS.

AND THEN, OF COURSE, THE SELECTION OF HIGH QUALITY, THE HIGH QUALITY INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS SPECIFICALLY FOR MATH.

AND THEN OUR IMPLEMENTATION PLAN, WHICH IS WHAT WE'RE PRESENTING TO YOU TODAY. AND SO YOU CAN SEE THE MULTIPLE STAKEHOLDERS THAT WE'VE MADE SURE THAT WE TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION WHEN WE'RE DEVELOPING THIS VERY LENGTHY PLAN.

AND SO WHEN WE DO THAT IT REALLY IT THIS IS I THINK THIS IS A COMPONENT FROM THE STATE THAT IS YIELDING US REALLY GREAT RESULTS BECAUSE IT'S MAKING US STOP AND PAUSE AND THINK ABOUT EVERY SINGLE STAKEHOLDER, FROM LEADERSHIP TO TEACHERS TO SUPPORT STAFF AND THEN TO OUR PARENTS AS WELL.

AND SO WHEN WE THINK ABOUT PRINTING MATERIALS WE HAVE A OBVIOUSLY A PLAN ON HOW WE WILL UTILIZE THE ALLOTMENT AND THEN HOPEFULLY THE SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDING. OUR HQIM PLAN AND THAT INCLUDES THE GRANT THAT WE HAVE APPLIED FOR, WE WILL KNOW IN FEBRUARY IF THAT WAS APPROVED OR NOT.

AND THEN OUR PROCESS FOR PRINTING MATERIALS. AND SO WE'RE WORKING WITH OUR PURCHASING DEPARTMENT ON MAKING SURE THAT WE FOLLOW THE SAME DISTRIBUTION PROCESSES AND THE PROCUREMENT PROCESS AS WELL.

I WILL SHARE WITH YOU THAT THERE IS SUCH A BENEFIT.

YOU KNOW, I HAVE A TEN YEAR OLD SON AND A LOT OF THE WORK THAT HE DOES IS ON CANVAS.

AND SO A LOT OF HIS TIME IS SPENT INTERFACING, AND HE'S A DYSLEXIC STUDENT, AND THERE'S SUCH BENEFIT TO HIM HAVING PRINTED MATERIALS IN FRONT OF HIM BECAUSE IT HELPS US PROCESS OUR LEARNING.

AND SO I OFTEN REQUEST THAT THE TEACHERS AT HOME PRINTED MATERIALS.

SO I DO SEE THIS AS A GREAT BENEFIT FOR OUR STUDENTS.

DEVELOPMENT OF MASTER SCHEDULES. SO WE'LL BE WORKING WITH CAMPUS LEADERS ACTUALLY IN THIS COMING MONTH, AND TALKING ABOUT MAKING SURE THAT WE ARE CREATING MASTER SCHEDULES FOR OUR ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY TEACHERS THAT ALLOW THE TIME AND SPACE FOR PLCS TO COME TOGETHER AND THAT WE CREATE AN OPPORTUNITY TO SUPPORT TEACHERS THROUGH THIS INTERNALIZATION PROCESS.

AND SO IF I COULD JUST EXPAND ON THAT A LITTLE BIT, THE SHIFT IS IN THE PLC, WE FOCUS A LOT ON DISCUSSING HOW STUDENTS ARE PERFORMING.

WHAT DO WE WANT THEM TO DO? WHAT ARE OUR GOALS FOR OUR KIDS.

AND SO THIS SHIFT IN THE INTERNALIZATION PROCESS IS THAT PLC WORKING TOWARDS WHAT DOES INSTRUCTION LOOK LIKE.

HOW DOES WHAT WE TALK ABOUT HERE TRANSLATE INTO THE CLASSROOM? AND SO THERE THERE ARE SPECIFIC PROTOCOLS FOR THAT THAT AS A CNI TEAM WE'VE BEEN ENGAGING IN AND WE'RE VERY EXCITED ABOUT TEACHING OUR TEACHERS AND OUR COACHES AND OUR CAMPUS ADMINISTRATORS ABOUT THE INTERNALIZATION PROCESS.

SO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE MASTER SCHEDULE IS REALLY IMPORTANT TO ALLOW THAT TIME AND SPACE FOR OUR TEACHERS IN ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY.

THEY ACTUALLY EVEN ENGAGED IN SOME MODEL LESSONS WHICH WAS REALLY INTERESTING FOR THEM TO GO BACK TO ALGEBRA.

AND THEN AGAIN, CREATING TIME AND SPACE FOR PLCS, AND THEN THE TEACHERS MAIN RESPONSIBILITY AND THE EXPECTATION FOR THE TEACHERS THAT THEY STUDY, THAT THEY INTERNALIZE AND THAT THEY IMPLEMENT THE CURRICULUM THROUGH OBVIOUSLY, THROUGH SUPPORT SYSTEMS. THE MAINTENANCE OF INSTRUCTIONAL FLEXIBILITY ENSURES THAT WE CREATE AN INSTRUCTIONAL MODEL THAT ALLOWS FOR RESPONSIVE TEACHING.

AND SO WHILE THE CURRICULUM IS DESIGNED WITH A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF LESSONS AND WITH A PACING GUIDE, WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ADHERE TO THE CURRICULUM.
