THAT IS SO COOL. I KNOW A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE GOING TO WANT TO GET THEIR KIDS IN THAT PROGRAM. I'LL BE INTERESTED TO SEE HOW THAT POPULATION GROWS OVER THE NEXT FEW YEARS. FOR THAT VERY REASON, I WOULD WANT MY KIDS TO BE IN THERE, THAT'S FOR SURE. WE HAVE REPLACED SMITH ELEMENTARY, THE CAMPUS IN HALTOM CITY, TO SERVE BOTH THE DAVID SMITH AND THE FRANCISCO COMMUNITY AND A NEW PARTNER SCHOOL. IT'S AMAZING CONCEPT. WE RENOVATED THE BUILDING FOR THE BOB GRIGGS HIGH SCHOOL AND THE LINDA KUNKEL SPECIALIZED LEARNING CENTER IN HALTOM CITY. WE EXPANDED HALTOM HIGH SCHOOL'S CAFETERIA AND ENCLOSED THEIR COURTYARD AND ADDED THAT INTO MORE USABLE SPACE. EXCUSE ME. GREAT OPPORTUNITIES THAT THAT PROVIDED ALSO FOR THEIR DANCE AND CHEER PROGRAMS, WE RENOVATED THE COURTYARD AT BIRDVILLE HIGH SCHOOL, IMPLEMENTED DISTRICT WIDE INFRASTRUCTURE UPGRADES AND REPLACEMENTS, PURCHASED NEW BUSSES, RENOVATED PRESS BOXES AT ALL THREE HIGH SCHOOLS, BASEBALL AND FOOTBALL AND SOFTBALL FIELDS, AND WE COMPLETED UPDATES AND UPGRADES TO THE TECHNOLOGY, INFRASTRUCTURE AND NETWORK AND UPDATED STUDENT STAFF DEVICES ON A REGULAR REPLACEMENT SCHEDULE THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE DISTRICT. SO IT'S A IT'S AN INCREDIBLE LIST, AND WE DID EVERY ONE OF THEM ON TIME AND UNDER BUDGET. THAT'S AN INCREDIBLE THING TO BE ABLE TO SAY. THAT'S RARE, I WOULD SUGGEST. ON TOP OF THAT, I DO SERVE ON P&Z FOR THE CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS. THIS IS MY SECOND BOND WITH BIRDVILLE ISD. I AM CURRENTLY ON ANOTHER BOND COMMITTEE FOR A FOR NORTH RICHLAND HILLS AS WELL. AND I BRING THAT UP TO TELL YOU, ONE OF THE NEAT THINGS ON THAT BOND AND ONE OF THE EASY THINGS ABOUT THAT BOND, WE'RE DISCUSSING SOME GREAT STUFF THAT I THINK IS GOING TO BE VERY BENEFICIAL TO THE CITY, BUT EVERYBODY IN THAT ROOM IS FOCUSING ON 1 CITY. AND OFTENTIMES THE CHALLENGE OF A BOND, ESPECIALLY IN A DISTRICT LIKE THIS, IS WE HAVE MULTIPLE CITIES INVOLVED. AND DURING THIS WHOLE PROCESS, I CAN GUARANTEE YOU ONE OF THE GREAT THINGS WAS NOBODY THOUGHT ABOUT THEIR CITY, EVERYBODY THOUGHT ABOUT ONE COMMUNITY. AND THAT WAS BIRDVILLE ISD. AND THAT SPEAKS VOLUMES TO THE CULTURE THAT WE HAVE BUILT HERE AT BIRDVILLE ISD, AND THAT WE HAVE CONTINUED TO HAVE. AND TO Y'ALL'S LEADERSHIP BOTH DOCTOR STINSON AND THE ENTIRE BOARD. THAT WAS VERY IMPRESSIVE. THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN A LOT, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU START LOOKING AT BONDS. A LOT OF PEOPLE THINK, WELL, WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME? WHAT'S IN IT FOR? FOR MY SIDE AND THIS SIDE? AND THERE WASN'T ANY OF THAT. I THINK THERE WAS AN UNDERSTANDING THAT OBVIOUSLY THE OR SECTION OF THE DISTRICT WHERE IT STARTED, THE SOUTH SECTION THEY'RE GOING TO AGE OUT 1ST, AND THOSE PEOPLE ARE GOING TO GET THINGS IN THE BOND AT CERTAIN TIMES, AND OTHER PARTS OF THE CITY WILL GET THEIR TURN. SO I THINK THAT'S BEEN VERY IMPRESSIVE TO SEE EVERYBODY VIEW EVERYTHING AS THESE ARE OUR KIDS, NO MATTER WHAT CITY YOU'RE IN. THESE ARE OUR KIDS. SO NOW I GET TO PRESENT TO YOU THE FUN STUFF. AND THIS IS WHAT'S ACTUALLY GOING TO BE THAT WE ARE PROPOSING. THE FIRST THING IS A NEW PARTNERSHIP MIDDLE SCHOOL. AND THAT IS COMBINING WATAUGA AND NORTH OAKS MIDDLE SCHOOLS. AND THAT WILL BE ON THE CURRENT SITE OF WATAUGA CURRENTLY SITS RIGHT NOW. WE WILL BE WE'RE PROPOSING TO REPLACE HARDEMAN ELEMENTARY, WHICH I BELIEVE IS ON THAT SITE. WE'RE GOING TO REPLACE THAT AS YOU SAW AS ONE OF OUR OLDER BUILDINGS. AND THEN SMITHFIELD MIDDLE SCHOOL IS WE'RE ASKING REPLACEMENT FOR THAT. THERE'S SOME DISCUSSION ABOUT THAT. AS YOU KNOW, SMITHFIELD MIDDLE SCHOOL HAS A FAIRLY NEW GYM THAT ALSO SERVES AS A STORM SHELTER. AT THE SAME TIME. I CAN TELL YOU, BECAUSE I WAS PRINCIPAL THERE SO LONG THAT JIM, AT THE TIME BEFORE THAT GYM, I THINK, SEATED 134 KIDS BY THE FIRE MARSHAL FOR A SCHOOL THAT HAD 850 KIDS. SO WE HAD BEEN PUSHING THAT FOR YEARS. IT WAS REALLY ONE OF OUR PRIORITIES. SO WE GOT THAT. AND IN ADDITION, WE ALSO ADDED SCIENCE LABS THAT MET THE NEW STATE REQUIREMENTS. FROM THAT, THAT SCHOOL IS INTERESTING BECAUSE IT HAS ORIGINALLY WAS WAS BUILT AS AN OPEN CONCEPT SCHOOL. SO IT HAS BEEN REDONE AND REDONE OPEN CONCEPT. THEN THEY CAME IN AND PUT GLASS WINDOWS. SO IT WAS ACTUALLY YOU COULD WALK DOWN THE HALL AND IT'S LIKE A LITTLE ZOO EXHIBIT. AND IF YOU EVER WORKED AT A MIDDLE SCHOOL, IT'S REALLY KIND OF LIKE THAT. ANYWAY SO YOU COULD WALK DOWN THE HALL AND SEE THAT AFTER COLUMBINE, [01:00:03] OBVIOUSLY THERE WAS SOME SAFETY ISSUES ON THAT. SO THEY HAD TO COME BACK AND REFIGURE AGAIN ON THAT SO THAT THAT SCHOOL HAS BEEN PIECEMEALED TOGETHER. I WILL TELL YOU, BECAUSE I WAS BOTH. I WAS THE PRINCIPAL DURING THE SCIENCE WING BUILD AND THE GYM BUILD. I CAN TELL YOU THAT EVEN BACK THEN, THE BOND COMMITTEE AND THE SCHOOL BOARD HAD THE FORESIGHT TO UNDERSTAND WHAT COULD POSSIBLY HAPPEN IN THE FUTURE. BOTH OF THOSE BUILDINGS ARE POSITIONED AND AND WERE POSITIONED INTENTIONALLY WHERE THEY WERE FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS TO HAPPEN. SO EVEN THOUGH WE'RE CALLING FOR A REBUILD OF SMITHFIELD MIDDLE SCHOOL, WE WANT TO TO INFORM EVERYBODY WE ARE KEEPING THE SCIENCE WINGS IN THERE AND THE GYM IN THERE. SO WE'RE ACTUALLY BUILDING THAT MIDDLE SCHOOL FOR LESS THAN, THAN THAN I THINK THE OTHER ONE BECAUSE OF THE FORESIGHT WITH THAT. SO THAT IS THAT ONE. WE ARE PROPOSING AUXILIARY TO, TO REBUILD A NEW AUXILIARY SUPPORT CENTER FOR TRANSPORTATION AND FACILITY MAINTENANCE. IF YOU'VE SEEN OUR, OUR BUS BARN UP THERE AND THEN WE'RE PROPOSING ADDITIONAL RENOVATIONS TO THE BIRDVILLE CENTER OF TECHNOLOGY AND ADVANCED LEARNING. AND IF YOU'VE BEEN AROUND THIS DISTRICT AT ALL, YOU KNOW THAT THAT PROGRAM IS PROBABLY THE FASTEST GROWING PROGRAM IN BIRDVILLE ISD. ALL 3 HIGH SCHOOLS FEED THERE. AND IT IS AMAZING. MY YOUNGEST SON TOOK SOME CLASSES THERE, SO THAT IS THEY ARE BUSTING AT THE SEAMS AND THAT EXCITES US. THAT LETS US PROVIDE MORE OPPORTUNITIES FOR THOSE KIDS THAT ARE INTERESTED IN THOSE THINGS. AND, YOU KNOW, WE JUST SAW WE'VE GOT SOME KIDS THAT PLACED IN NATIONALS THERE. SO IT'S A GREAT PROGRAM FOR THAT. UNDER THE AREA OF FACILITY AND TRANSPORTATION UPGRADES, WE ARE REQUESTING BUS REPLACEMENTS FOR AND RENEWALS AND MAINTENANCE AND CRITICAL OPERATIONS FUNDS FOR MAINTENANCE, MAINTENANCE AND CRITICAL OPERATIONS AS WELL. SAFETY AND SECURITY CONTINUES TO BE ONE OF OUR TOP PRIORITIES FOR BIRDVILLE ISD. I HAPPEN TO GET TO WORK WITH DOCTOR SCHOLZ OFFICE A LITTLE BIT. AND WE'RE CONSTANTLY LOOKING FOR THINGS. HOW CAN WE IMPROVE SAFETY? WE ARE GREAT. AT BIRDVILLE ISD. FANTASTIC. CANNOT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THE WORK THAT THAT DEPARTMENT DOES. BUT WE'RE FANTASTIC. BUT WHAT I LIKE ABOUT IT IS THEY'RE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR. HOW CAN WE EVEN GET BETTER? HOW CAN WE CONTINUE TO GET SAFER AND PROTECT OUR KIDS EVEN MORE? SO WE'RE ASKING FOR SAFETY, SAFETY AND SECURITY UPGRADES WITH SECURITY CAMERAS, ACCESS CARD READERS, FENCING, FIRE ALARMS, THINGS LIKE THAT. AND THEN, OF COURSE, ALL OF OUR STUDENTS HAVE DEVICES. SO WHEN YOU GET TO THE AREA OF TECHNOLOGY OR REQUESTING STUDENT AND TEACHER DEVICES, EQUIPMENT, NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURES AND SYSTEMS, AND THEN THE TWO OTHER THINGS, WE'RE GOING TO START OFF WITH FINE ARTS UPGRADES, REQUESTING REPLACING THE BAND HALL AT NORTHRIDGE MIDDLE SCHOOL. THAT BAND HALL DOES NOT SERVE THEIR NEEDS AT ALL AND DEFINITELY NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED ON THAT. AND THEN THE AUDITORIUM AT BIRDVILLE HIGH SCHOOL. AS THAT SCHOOL HAS GROWN, I THINK WE'VE ALL REALIZED THAT THAT NEEDS TO BE UPGRADED AS WELL. ON THAT AND THEN FOR THE ATHLETIC UPGRADES WEIGHT ROOM REFURBISHMENTS AT ALL 3 HIGH SCHOOLS TURF FIELD REPLACEMENTS AT HIGH SCHOOLS, AT THE FOOTBALL PRACTICE FIELDS. I BELIEVE THOSE THINGS ARE A LITTLE BIT OVERDUE FOR AN UPGRADE FOR SAFETY REASONS. I THINK THEY'RE RATED AT SO MANY YEARS AND WE'RE RIGHT AT THAT TIME FOR THAT. AND THEN LED LIGHT FIELD REPLACEMENT OR LED FIELD LIGHT REPLACEMENTS AT ALL THREE HIGH SCHOOLS AS WELL. THAT BRINGS OUR TOTAL BOND THAT WE ARE PROPOSING TO THIS BOARD AT $475.5 MILLION FOR THAT. AGAIN, DURING THIS WHOLE THING, THE FOCUS WAS ON WHAT'S GOING TO HELP OUR KIDS IN THIS DISTRICT. WHAT IS THE BEST USE OF OUR SOURCES? HOW CAN WE USE THAT MONEY IN THE WISEST WAY POSSIBLE TO AFFECT POSITIVELY AFFECT THE LIVES OF AS MANY KIDS AS WE CAN. WE ALSO THINK IF YOU LOOK AT WHAT WE'RE PROPOSING THERE, I BELIEVE AT THAT POINT, MOST OF OUR SECONDARY SCHOOLS AT THAT POINT ARE ALMOST CAUGHT UP WHICH NOW IS GREAT. THAT MEANS THAT EVERY KID ENTERING SIX THROUGH 12, HALF OF THEIR LIVES IN PUBLIC EDUCATION WITH US AT BIRDVILLE ISD WILL BE IN FAIRLY BE IN BUILDINGS THAT ARE FAIRLY BRAND NEW AND UPGRADED, THAT WILL MEET THEIR NEEDS, THAT WILL ALLOW US IN FUTURE BONDS TO ADDRESS THE FEW REMAINING NEEDS THAT WE HAVE. SO APPRECIATE YOU TAKING THIS OVER AND DOING IT. WHAT I WANT TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT A LITTLE BIT. AND I KNOW YOU GUYS ALREADY KIND OF HAVE SOME PLANS ON THIS, BUT, MAN, THESE AFFECT EVERYBODY AND PUTS EVERYBODY AT JEOPARDY. IF THEY DON'T COMPLY FROM IF YOU, IF YOU NAME AN EMPLOYEE, PROBABLY PROBABLY AFFECTS THEM IN SOME WAY. AS DOCTOR STINSON MENTIONED, IT AFFECTS AND AS YOU SUBSTANTIATED THERE'S IT AFFECTS EVERY EMPLOYEE. SO AND IT TAKES A TEAM TO DO THIS. SO AS WE GO THROUGH THIS, EVERY EVERY DIRECTOR NOT ONLY LOOKS AT THEIR AREA, THEY LOOK AT THE COMPLETE POLICY BECAUSE IT INFUSES INTO SO MANY AREAS AND SPILLS OVER.
